Devotion 9.7.18
“Now it happened that He went through the grain fields on the Sabbath: and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of the grain. And the Pharisees said to Him, ‘Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?’ But He said to them, ‘Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?’” Mark 2:23-26
There will always be those do-gooders who judge every move you make and will make a stink about every one of those moves that they believe to be against the laws of God. God knows the heart of each and every one of us and that should be both a comfort and a fear. God knows whether or not you truly love Him and Jesus.
If you don’t make it to church regularly, God knows if you are following His Son and are obedient to Him and submissive to His will. Going to church does not make you a Christian and does not guarantee you entry into heaven. If you have a bad day and curse out a co-worker and then your spouse, God knows what is going on in your life to cause you to behave that way and He will be watching to see you if correct that behavior and repent and seek forgiveness. God is everywhere and there is nothing that is hidden from Him.
When we choose to believe in the gospel, follow Jesus and give our lives to God; He knows the truth of that choice. There will never be perfection in your life and there will always be moments that another may look at you and your actions and see a sinner but God knows if you are worshiping Him in Spirit and Truth and if you are then He will work with you during your life so that your faith can be made perfect and you can be made ready for heaven.
“And He said to them, ‘That Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.’” Mark 2:27-28
